My Music Friends

Jake and I visited with both our friends from Mike Mains and the Branches and Jeremy Spring from Abandon Kansas this week when they came to town. I just love this music community that we have become a part of. We have met the most inspiring people through it, not to mention people we consider friends. Pretty lucky we have gotten to know them!

Calm Down, Everything is Fine

Could not be more excited about this coming soon from Mike Mains & the Branches. By the way, this is at their house. I love it. Yet another reason to visit Michigan much more.

Mike and Shannon's Wedding

We had the pleasure of attending our friends Mike and Shannon's wedding last week in Michigan. We met these two when their band played at Jake's church last year and we have seriously enjoyed getting to know them and how great of a relationship they have. Their wedding was really personal and fun. Plus, we kind of boogied the night away. We met so many great people that I can't wait to get to know better. Congrats to Mike and Shannon! Here's to many happy years together.

Our new friends, Bryan and Ashley.

 First dance.

I am a hot mess in this picture after a night of dancing, but what a pretty bride!

Shannon's Birthday

Last Monday Jake and I headed to Louisville to see our friends in Mike Mains and the Branches once again. We found out a few days before that it would be Shannon's birthday, so we snuck in a cake before the show started without her knowing. About halfway through the set Jake went onstage with the cake and Mike had the entire crowd singing to Shannon. After a great show, we went outside and played with some sparklers in honor of the birthday girl. We were so excited to celebrate Shannon's birthday with her. After such a tough couple of weeks she deserved to have a great day. Can't wait until these friends come into town (hopefully) sometime soon!

The Branches Need Your Help

If you read my blog with any consistency you know that Jake and I love Mike Mains and the Branches. Over the past year we have become friends with all four of them. They are the nicest, most sincere group of people you will ever meet.

Unfortunately while in Texas this week their van was stolen, along with all of their gear and personal belongings. Think guitars, amps, Macbooks, clothes, wallets...everything.

The amazing part of this story is that they are still touring. They are borrowing equipment from other bands and are buying clothes and such along the way. Jake and I saw them on Friday in Cincinnati and their show was just as entertaining and enjoyable as usual, even if they aren't playing their own instruments.

They have set up a "store" where you can donate to help get them back on their feet. I encourage you to visit here to help them out any way you can.

Just to show you they still got it...

Our MMTB Weekend

We've had such a great weekend! Our friends Mike Mains and the Branches were playing two shows within driving distance, so we took road trips to see them on Friday and Saturday. They are usually super busy before and after shows, so we were thrilled we got to visit with them this weekend. Jake and I really love these guys and always enjoy their amazing stage presence and music. Make sure to check them out!

HOH w/ MM&TB

Jake and I journeyed to Wilmington College on Friday to see two of our very favorite bands: Mike Mains & the Branches and House of Heroes. I am so glad we made the trip! No surprise, it was a wonderful and fun show.
We were surprised, however, to make a great new friend at the concert and to get to catch up with Mike and Nate from MM&TB for a bit. I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of this community of concert goers who have a similar outlook on faith and music. I have met so many quality individuals as a result.

HOH, with surprise special guest Stephanie Smith! She cameos on one of my favorite HOH songs.
